Let's Get Down To Drawing & Painting

It's been a little while since I have updated the website. 2025 was not one of the better years from a personal point of view, and this ultimately impacted on both producing and teaching art. My lovely, perfectly imperfect Dad became poorly at the beginning of the year, and although he was determined to stay at home, his health failed rapidly and he passed away in the summer. I cannot thank my family and friends enough for all their support and patience. I am including all my students and course facilitators in my circle of friends - everyone was so understanding of the disruption to our schedules.

So, 2026 is the year to get everything back on track, to revisit basics, build on foundations and to introduce new and exciting art opportunities. These include:

*an additional regular monthly class at Barnsdale Gardens (now totalling 4 seperate classes)

 * Barnsdale Gardens have added an additional 2-day workshop to their Botanical Art Workshops

 * NTU are offering a slightly earlier Level 1 Intro to Botanical Drawing & Illustration, in addition to a Level 2 4-day course and summer schools for both Levels

 * Introduction to Watercolour (Beginners) - short course over 4 months, at Barnsdale Gardens, as part of their workshop programme

 * Field Breaks Art - new venue

 * Nature inspired 2-day art workshops, to include Moths & Butterflies in Watercolour, Collections from the Seashore and Strandline, Experimental Watercolour and Collage.

So, are you keen to build on your drawing & painting skills, pick up a paintbrush for the first time since you left school or develop you art portfolio? Come and join me, and like-minded friends, at inspirational locations throughout the UK.

Open Studio 2026

I was so pleased to welcome visitors in 2025 to my work, and to have some great conversations. Visitor feedback was so positive which means the absolute world to me.

I will, in conjunction with Barnsdale Gardens, be opening the Garden Studio at various times during 2026, with the 'main event' scheduled for September:

2-4 Sept, 7 - 13 Sept, 18 - 20 Sept, 23 - 27 Sept. For the September Open Studio event, access to the studio will be free, via the 'back gate', but please do take the opportunity to visit the gardens too - entry fee applicable - you really won't be disappointed.

Original works will be available to purchase, in addition to prints, cards and other merchandise.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Nick, Charlotte and the team at Barnsdale Gardens for all their support with this event.
