Let's Get Down To Drawing & Painting

2021 was definitely a year of two halves: the first half being spent in 'virtual' classrooms and then tentatively dipping toes back into 'in-person' classes. I definitely know which I prefer. Activities picked up in July, and accelerated at pace. I was thrilled to be invited to join the Field Art Breaks team of workshop tutors, in addition to running two successful short courses for NTU and Barnsdale Gardens. Planning started in October for 2022, and the calendar is looking busy with a variety of different venues and experiences on offer.

So, are you keen to build on your drawing & painting skills, pick up a paintbrush for the first time since you left school or develop your art portfolio? Would you like to spend some leisure time in  Rutland the smallest county with the BIGGEST archaeological finds and inspirational gardens, a trip to the Peak District, immersing yourself at a nature reserve in beautiful Devon or soaking up the bright city lights of Nottingham?

Exhibition: "Shakespeare's Garden"
Abington Park Museum 21 May - 19 June 2022
Northamptonshire Botanical Artists' Society

Abington Park Museum was once a medieval manor house, with a 33 home settlement in its grounds. Abington Hall, as it was known then, later became Abington Abbey and is today a  museum. William Shakespeare's granddaughter lived at Abington Hall, and NBAS's 2022 Botanical Art exhibition showcases contemporary representations of the flora and fauna found in Shakespeare's work.

Admission to the museum is free. Further information will be added to the museum's website about the exhibition; please click on the photo which will take you to the website.

Rutland Open Studios 2022

2021 was the first time that I had participated 'in-person' with Rutland Open Studios, and the event completely exceeded my expectations. There were so many lovely visitors, despite the inclement weather at times, and I was able to have some wonderful conversations, talking about botanical art, inspirations etc.

The event runs over 3 weekends in September and I am thrilled to be participating again, in 2022 at Barnsdale Gardens, on the following dates: 10 & 11, 18  and 24 & 25 September 2022, 10.00am - 4.00pm.

Access to the studio will be free, via the 'back gate', but please do take the opportunity to visit the gardens too - entry fee applicable - you really won't be disappointed.

Original works will be available to purchase, in addition to prints, cards and other merchandise.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Nick, Charlotte and the team at Barnsdale Gardens for all their support with this event.
